Cricut CAKE!!!

Here is my "unveiling" video...please excuse the camera being all over the place. I was trying to do it one handed and it didn't work. LOL

WOOHOO! I don't think I have ever been so intimidated by a machine because A) I'm not a baker and B) I'm not a baker! LOL. I can bake the good chocolate chip cookie and mix some cake mix but let me tell you, originally I've been saving up for a laptop but I think I might want a Kitchen Aid mixer instead! This machine is so much fun! I managaed to cut out my son's name in cheese and some Mickey Mouse sugar cookies so far. I will say that it is trial and error and I can see where some people could get frustrated. When I first put the dough in there, it just went everywhere. So my husband Chris thought that maybe if I roll out the dough on the mat, place the mat in the freezer for about 40 minutes, then cut out my shapes that it would work. And it did! Then of course, I couldn't unstick my cookies so he suggested we freeze them for an additional 10 minutes and guess what, they came right off! PERFECT! I'm going to be baking my son some Mickey Mouse cupcakes for his birthday next week so i'll make sure to post those. In the mean time, I'll brag my little Mickey cookies and son's name cut out in cheese :)

  1. I'm glad you've "bonded" with your Cake! I also played around with cookies and fondant when I first got mine and found out that rolling out on the mat and freezing for a few min (depending on the weather) before and after helps a ton! Wait until you try fondants! I've tried both homemade and store bought, and my favorite so far is the Duff brand. You can get it at Michael's. Have fun and I look forward to more Cake posts!

  2. I too "went to town" cutting every food product I could find with my Cricut Cake. (And I'm NOT a baker, either!) You can see my post about it (check archives and sidebar) at www.cardmonkey-business.blogspot.com ... Bottom line, when cutting cookie dough, use cookie cutters. Still the best way, IMHO. BUT for fondant and gum paste, if you really want to impress your guests with creativity, Cricut Cake's a lot of fun.
